Sunday Nov. 13th, Fort Wadsworth, 1 to 4 p.m. Join us to celebrate the 235th anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn. There will be drills, posting guards, firing volleys, recruitment, the signing of loyalty oaths with quill pens and demonstrations of English colonial dancing. A Revolutionary War Heritage Event sponsored by Richmond County Savings Foundation.
Prior to the demonstrations, from 10-12:30, Prof. Phillip Papas will lead a Revolutionary War bus tour of Staten Island sites. Call Sue Quadrino at Historic Richmond Town at 718-351-1611 to make reservations.

SI 350 officially launched Discovering Staten Island: A 350th Anniversary Commemorative History, a 224-page book filled with facts and photos about Staten Island’s people and places and the interesting stories they have to tell.

One Island.Welcome! We invite you to discover an exciting project involving cultural and historical institutions throughout New York City. The year 2011 will mark the 350th anniversary of the founding of Staten Island. Peter Stuyvesant, the Director General of New Netherlands, granted a petition in 1661 authorizing land grants to families of Belgian, French and Dutch immigrants. From that moment on, Staten Island was linked to peoples, products and ideas throughout the world, generating a dynamic community.
